Describe the setting-include location, time period, and socioeconomic characteristics?
The location is in Los Angels, California. They don't give you a definite time period but they do give you that Ruby (the main character) is 15 years old. The socioeconomic characteristics is that ruby use to be poor when she lived with her mom but than afte her mothers death she moved to California with her father (who is and actor) and is very rich.

Could this be set in present day? Sometimes authors leave out the exact time because they want the reader to be able to imagine it being present day whenever they read it.
